Participates in the planning and development of communication strategies at a local, regional and/or national basis. Participates in the daily planning and execution of communication objectives and goals. Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems as appropriate; interacts and serves as liaison with clients; plans and carries out communications and public relations activities, as appropriate. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Provides leadership and support for the planning, development and coordination of both internal and external communications and news projects. Writes, edits and reviews news materials and public relations materials, including fact sheets, articles, news materials and speeches, with emphasis on the exploration and development of social media; recommends ways to capitalize on new media trends. Coordinates the development, implementation and completion of special projects related to internal and/or external communications initiatives and collaborates in the development and dissemination of broadly based strategic communication designed to inform the public of such issues as the University's programs and accomplishments.
