The Hellenic Education Center consists of three programs: 1) A Paideia Preschool Program. 2) A Greek Language Afternoon/Saturday School, and 3) A Community Education Program.
We are seeking a Director of Education who will oversee the Hellenic Education Center, putting in place many of the goals and objectives defined by the Saint Katherine Board of Education (BoE).
Submission Requirements: Interested candidates are asked to submit three items: 1) A Curriculum Vitae (CV), 2) a one page description of objectives, describing the candidate’s approach to teaching Greek as a second language in the United States, and 3) Three references of prior experience.
Responsibilities include those related to curriculum review and development, the institution of technology, teacher oversight, preschool licensure, establishment of a Kindergarten, administration and operations, external communication, and community outreach.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, with specific expertise in teaching the Greek language, curriculum development, and school administration/operations. A Masters or PhD in Education is not required but a bonus.
Experience: 5+ years of experience teaching in Greece, Greek-American Day Schools, Greek Language Schools and/or local public/private schools located in the USA. Understanding of best practices in teaching Greek as a second language and overall education is needed. Fluency in Greek and English is required.
