The Director of Nursing (DON) under the direction of the licensed Nursing Home Administrator, has the 24 hour responsibility of nursing care for all residents through the performance of nursing personnel to include Activities and Social Services. Additionally, the Director of Nursing Services is responsible for providing a system of care for residents in a manner and environment that promotes maintenance or enhancement of each resident=s quality of life and provides dignity and respect in full recognition of each resident=s individuality. S/he will establish policies, procedures, objectives and work standards while directing the nursing personnel in a manner that ensures quality resident care Requirements
1. Must have a degree from an accredited school of nursing.
2. Must have a bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
3. Must be currently registered with the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
4. Must have knowledge of the key elements of case management.
5. Must possess supervisory experience.
6. Must possess previous experience rehabilitation and restorative nursing practices.
Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
Must have an articulate command of the English language, and be able to perform public
speaking, instructing and teaching.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such
action and remain calm during emergency situations.
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws,
regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and have the willingness to work
harmoniously with staff, residents, family members, visitors and general public.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs,
goals, objectives, and policies and procedures that are necessary for long term care.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Qualified candidates will be required to pass a Level II Background screening and drug test.
