Summary: The General Labor Pool employee is an entry level position that will fill in for vacations, sick days, call-ins, etc. for both the laminating and converting departments on positions the employee has been trained in. This employee may be cross trained in the following roles including but not limited to: Stitcher, Ream Cutter, Taper, Forklift/Utility, verifying quality product (sorting), stripping, and restacking product as necessary. The employee in this role will frequently be moved where needed in production and will be cross trained to fill in to help sustain production.

STITCHER/REAM CUTTER/TAPER: To read work orders and ensure that the product that is getting stitched, ream cut and/or taped to the appropriate size, squareness and without defect.

STITCHER Essential Job Functions:

  • Setting up the stitcher for the correct size of stitch, placement, and gap of stitch according to the work order
  • Stitching orders according to work order organizing them by due date and size to maintain efficiencies
  • Performing quality checks and filling out the appropriate quality documentation
  • Communicating with the tow motor for skids, product, and removal
  • Change stitching wire as needed (LOTO equipment as required)
  • Stack product on skids keeping within our skid tolerances
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

REAM CUTTER Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up computer for a correct cut based on the work order
  • Cut pieces down according to work order, organizing them by due date and size to maintain efficiencies
  • Perform quality checks and fill out the appropriate quality documentation
  • Communicate with the towmotor and operator for skids, product, and removal
  • Lock Out/Tag Out equipment when adjustments need to be made to the blade or blade guard
  • Stack product on skids that keeping within our skid tolerances
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

TAPER Essential Job Functions:

  • Tape orders according to the work order, organizing them by due date and size to maintain efficiencies
  • Performing quality checks and filling out the appropriate quality documentation
  • Communicating with the towmotor for skids, product, and removal
  • Changing tape as needed
  • Stacking product on skids that keeps within our skid tolerances
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

FORKLIFT/UTILITY Summary: Load and unload product as needed to facilitate an efficient and continuous flow throughout the organization.

UNITIZER/UTILITY Essential Job Functions

  • Proficiently operate towmotor and unitizer
  • Make out towmotor checklist at the beginning of shift
  • Keep conveyor’s and machine centers loaded/unloaded as required (this includes skids and product)
  • Flip loads as needed
  • Load trucks making sure all skids are on trucks and that the loads are neat, stable, and there are no broken skids or bands.
  • Recharge batteries on electric tow motor
  • Keep all finished loads in the right area
  • Weigh skid waste from converting and laminator
  • Unitize all loads per order specifications
  • Straighten up/frame in/package securely, all loads to ensure the product arrives intact to the customer
  • Reload banding and stretch film as needed
  • Perform the required quality checks and record on the quality checklist
  • Remove, weigh, and hog up all scrap in a timely manner to prevent any downtime or disruption of effectively running machine centers
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
  • Perform all tasks safely

Interaction with Others: This position will interact directly and indirectly with all company employees, customers, and vendors.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Manufacturing experience preferred but not required

- Math Test prior to hire date required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Be able to perform basic math (Prior to hire, employee must pass basic math test)
  • Read and write in the English Language
  • Computer skills
  • Read and understand a tape measure
  • Be able to verbally communicate with all departments in the organization

Work Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing facility that may be dusty at times. The environment is such that the inside temperature adjusts concurrently with the outside temperature, however, the facility is heated in the winter.
