Responsible for the acquisition of new sponsors and business partnerships, generating revenue or budget relieving programs for Special Olympics
Identify and develop sources of potential clients
Effectively communicate with clients to gain insight on clients mission and goals as they relate to Special Olympics Illinois (Sponsorship, Volunteering, Event Participation)
Maintain regular contact with key clients
Effectively communicate with clients via telephone, face-to-face and written communication
Develop and maintain relationships with new & current clients
Provide the highest level of customer service and support to all partners
Create, write and submit proposals for funding strategic goals and objectives of Special Olympics Illinois
Prepare and present partner recaps at the completion of each event
Oversee and assist with development communications to include preparing case statements, event materials and web messaging
Database management of accounts and status report weekly
Prepare contractual agreements for sponsors in accordance with Special Olympics Illinois guidelines
Manage client payment status on a monthly basis
Monitor sales funnel and timeline to be reviewed monthly
Contribute expertise and vision to marketing and development meetings
Complete and submit expense report in a timely manner
Responsible for Corporate Telemarketing outreach thanking corporate donors for their support
Support the Sr. Director and Development Team in promoting the Special Olympics Illinois mission
Work closely with Area Directors and Torch Run team to develop new programs and help in supporting current programs through sponsorship opportunities
Volunteer at events to gain an understanding of available opportunities
Represent Special Olympics Illinois in a professional manner at all times
Manage prospect pool for existing and new funding opportunities, coordinate opportunities with Development team, staff and volunteers


One to two years’ development and fundraising experience or equal sales experience with measurable results
Strong ability to work independently and learn quickly
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Ability to learn relational databases and manage records housed within those databases
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Valid driver’s license
Must have ability to work nights, weekends, and travel statewide (up to 50% the first year)


Bachelor’s degree
Special Olympics Illinois experience


Based in either the Chicago or Lombard, IL office
Monday through Friday with evenings and weekends as the position demands
In-state travel (approximately 50% the first year) including some overnight and weekend travel
Reports to Senior Director--Corporate Development & Partnerships
