Harrison Youth Council seeks an individual for a Part-time position as a Youth and Family Counselor.
Harrison Youth Council (www.harrisonyouth.org) is a not-for-profit, OASAS-licensed substance abuse and gambling prevention agency in Westchester County, NY which provides a broad range of services to at-risk children and families, including individual, group and family counseling, parenting education, school and community programs, and youth employment services.
In this position, the employee provides counseling and other prevention services to youth up to age 20 (and their families) who are residents of Harrison, NY and may be at-risk for substance abuse and/or gambling addiction. The candidate should be a highly motivated and organized individual who enjoys the opportunity to provide services in the office, at local schools and day camp, and at other community venues.
Job responsibilities include: conducting telephone intake interviews, assessment and service planning, maintaining case records, crisis intervention, delivering school and community-based programs and presentations, as well as individual, family and group counseling. The use of evidence-based practice models is a major component of agency practice and is crucial to the position.
The candidate should be a prevention professional who has a master’s degree in social work or is an equivalent masters-level clinician licensed or certified in NYS (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT). A valid driver’s license and car are required for the position.
Work would be on weekdays with some evening hours required. Salary commensurate with experience.
