The Program Coordinator for Communications, Outreach and Events, supports BTC’s Executive
Director and leadership staff in effectively managing key functions in the areas of communications, outreach and events. The Program Coordinator’s responsibilities will include facilitating the development and dissemination of communications and outreach materials and participating in the planning and logistical operations required to ensure the success of multiple events and meetings in Boston and nationwide. The Program Coordinator will be a key liaison between BTC and communications/outreach vendors and consultants to ensure a variety of communications, outreach and events progress on time and on budget from the planning and developmental phases through completion. The candidate should be a resourceful positive contributor to BTC and will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to multiple constituencies.

Reporting Relationship
The Program Coordinator, Communications, Outreach and Events, reports to the Program Manager, Communications and Resource Development.

Major Responsibilities and Key Tasks
Contribute to the development of creative communications and outreach strategies and messaging to a variety of constituencies including: BTC partners and stakeholders across multiple sectors including health care and early childhood education;
Produce electronic and print communications including Web site content, Webcasts, Webinars, social media tools, newsletters, brochures, and other vehicles;
Support the development and execution of BTC’s online social media strategy;
Manage the implementation of e-communications, outreach and other promotional activities;
Actively manage vendor contracts and costs to ensure communications projects meet time and budget targets;
Perform light design work, post approved content to website, and develop e-communications layouts/templates;
Provide writing and editing support, such as drafting and proofreading written communications and outreach materials;
Assist with planning, coordinating, and carrying out events projects;

Support collection and review of data regarding communications and outreach projects, social media, and web usage;
Track and maintain data related to events and communication efforts for regular reporting;  Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5), WordPress, ConstantContact, databases, e-mail systems and ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed;
Ability to take initiative, think ahead and follow tasks through completion on deadline;
Comfortable sharing ideas and receiving critical feedback;
Ability to track and perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a high workload environment; must be motivated, detail oriented and highly organized;
Sensibility to culturally diverse staff and constituent population;
Ability to process and protect confidential information in a professional manner.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or related field of study;
Minimum 2 years successful and progressively responsible work experience in communications and outreach, 3-5 years preferred;
Experience in supporting and coordinating the execution of events, communications, social media activities, outreach projects, and website content management;
Media relations, organizational branding, marketing, copyediting and/or other promotional experience a plus;
Must have experience and demonstrated success in using an array of electronic media and web- based channels to communicate effectively with multiple constituencies;
Experience in child development and/or in urban or low-income communities is a plus.
