Dow AgroSciences (DAS) is looking for an experienced full-stack developer who has focused on user interface development. The developer will work within the Information Technology and Data Analysis (ITDA) function delivering web solutions. The successful candidate will interact closely with research scientists as well as with software developers in the design, development and implementation of user interfaces. The individual will lead and advance development of presentation tier for core scientific applications – both desktop and mobile web applications. The individual will have experience thinking critically about how to deliver the application requirements while balancing user interface design and user experience needs. The individual will participate in the requirements-gathering phase of application development, drive user interface development, and integrate the user interface with middleware technologies.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in key areas such as user interface design patterns, mentoring other software developers in presentation layer design and development, setting coding standards and participating in peer code reviews. They will work with and lead project teams to help them define and implement their user interface needs.

The successful candidate for this position is expected to perform the following job responsibilities:

  • Work within the Information Technology and Data Analysis (ITDA) function delivering web solutions

This role is located in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science is required
  • Strong analytic skills to balance UI requirements against ease of use and technical requirements
  • Solid data structure and algorithm knowledge required
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for solving complex problems
  • Demonstrated leadership in key areas such as user interface design patterns, mentoring other software developers in presentation layer design and development, setting coding standards and participating in peer code reviews

Education / Experience

  • Significant experience as a full-stack web developer with strong experience implementing user interfaces
  • Experience with Java and/or C# and relational databases
  • Experience with front-end web frameworks (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Backbone.js)
  • Experience developing mobile web applications (jQuery Mobile)
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with iOS development a plus
  • Experience with revision control (Subversion)

Preference will be given to candidates having worked with scientists
