Court appointed Guardian Ad Litem for the Palm Beach County. The State of Florida Guardian ad Litem program trains and certifies citizens to represent the best interests of their assigned child(ren). The volunteer, working with the GAL team, advocates for the best interest and needs of the child before the court, as well as within the social service agencies. The GAL follows the child's progress throughout the duration of the case, monitoring the child's safety, well being and welfare, and advocating for permanency for children. That may involve working toward return to a safe and loving home, or advocating for a permanent adoptive home. Other duties included scheduling of all direct support workers, on call coordination on our crisis line in rotation with other coordinators. I staffed 24/7 for well over 100 staff and 80 families providing support staff in their homes. Duties included setting up schedules in advance as well as crisis staffing for children in crisis situations, and last minute call out staffing when scheduled staff was unable to fulfill their shifts.
