Responsible in assisting Probation Officer determining an appropriate disposition. Required to investigate and report to the Court, the circumstances of the offense committed and the background of the defendant, following conviction of a felony offense.
Responsible in assisting Probation Officers in contacting victims who have suffered physical or property loss as a result of other's criminal behavior. As a public service agency and as the arm of the Court, this department is obligated to make a reasonable effort to seek out victims and ascertain the nature of the loss.
Assisting Probation Officers in learning the victim's feelings regarding the offense and its consequences and report it to the Court at the time of sentencing. It is the procedures of this department that collection of restitution will be of the highest priority.
Responsible in assisting interviews and gathering defendant's personal/criminal history to provide information to the Court on a bail reduction, increase or release on own recognizance, depending on the severity of the charges, and prior convictions.
