Industries of design expertise include data centers, healthcare, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, higher education and federal (secure and non-secure) telecommunication systems and low voltage specialty systems. Areas of design expertise include data centers, structured cabling infrastructure, telecommunications rooms, inside plant (ISP) distribution and outside plant (OSP) design. Clients include nationally recognized universities, nationally ranked hospitals, global pharmaceutical companies, Homeland Security and state / federal agencies.
While at Affiliated Engineers Inc (AEI), my role as Lead IT Engineer (Senior Designer) of Technology Services was to assure a complete, coordinated and integrated telecommunications infrastructure for the network and other IP based applications / systems that may run over the network. From Basis of Design (BOD) / Scope of Work (SOW) through punch list and final inspection, all aspects of consulting and design are encompassed. In addition to telecommunications / structured cabling, Technology Services provide full low voltage systems design that includes Security (access control / intrusion detection), Wireless Access Points (personal and asset tracking), Distributed Antenna System (DAS), Paging, Nurse Call, Clock Systems, etc. Projects have included data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratory spaces, office buildings, distance learning classrooms and video conferencing. New construction, shelled space up-fits, moves-adds-changes (MAC) and historical renovations have all been part of my experience while at Affiliated Engineers Inc.
Prior to Affiliated Engineers Inc., I spent almost 10 years designing federal and military projects throughout the United Stated that also included work with the Department of Defense, US Corp of Engineers, and the Veterans' Administration. Military projects included base realignment and new reserve bases including both full electrical and telecommunications design. Specialties included full interior/exterior lighting design, NIPRN/SIPRN/TS network design and Tempest shielding for telecommunications rooms and closets.
Other areas of design experience have also included new construction and renovation including life safety, control rooms, demolition, waste treatment, electrical distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting, fire detection, grounding, lightning protection, site work planning, hazardous (classified) atmospheres and high security (SCIF) layouts. Plus, experience in outside plant (OSP) design, campus environments and master planning.
My goal is to provide my clients (both internal and external) with the best design possible that meets their needs on Day One and provides flexibility for the future. Once complete, I want any project that I have associated with my name and the company I represent to be a successful integration of construction, technology and overall system performance.
