MarCom Group, Inc., a woman-owned small business, full service advertising agency, is currently searching for an experienced Media Director to create ground-breaking media strategies utilizing the latest in media trends. This position is located in Fairfax, VA .

As the Media Director you will have media planning and media buying responsibilities. Our number one priority is customer satisfaction. Your job will be to develop customer relationships that go beyond media buying. You will strategically plan and execute media campaigns that meet our client’s immediate goals and have the potential for expanding our business. You will be responsible for implementing some of the most innovative media solutions for extremely significant Federal agency clientele and commercial clients representing the entertainment and service industries.

You will strategically plan and execute media campaigns that meet our client’s immediate goals and have the potential for expanding our business. You will be responsible for implementing some of the most innovative media solutions for extremely significant Federal agency clientele and commercial clients representing the entertainment and service industries.

Job responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and buy advertising space in magazines, newspapers radio and television stations.
  • Manage all aspects of advertising job traffic.
  • Research to identify the audiences that can be reached by the different media and the approximate size of those audiences.
  • Work closely with account executives to establish an advertising/marketing plan for reaching the greatest number of potential customers at the lowest cost to the client.
  • Work with clients to gain their approval before the plan is put into action.
  • Perform media planning research and create digital plans.
  • Negotiate with sales representatives.
  • Issue and update insertion orders.
  • Traffic ad tags using appropriate tools.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance.
  • Participate in client presentations and lead the ad presentations.
  • Provide recommendations about ways to optimize the ad/marketing campaign.
  • Address and resolve media invoice and ad service fee inconsistencies.
  • Establish strong, professional relationships with media partners and media sales reps.
  • Ensure that media buys are in line with budgets.
  • Participate in meetings with Creative Director and Production Manager to assure accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Conduct vendor follow-up and help resolve reimbursement issues.
  • Provide QA/QC support.
  • Produce, close and sustain deals in given market, as well as the deals of the team overall.
  • Seek ways to increase revenue through new partners and provide POV recommendations for potential opportunities for the company.
  • Oversee and evaluate contracts with media partners across multiple channels.
  • Maintain Profit and Loss Reports for clients and partners.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or similar subject areas preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ online media planning/buying experience, print and radio and television media buying experience across multiple DMAs.
  • Management/supervisory experience required.
  • Familiarity with mobile and social media marketing.
  • Prior experience with traditional media planning and buying.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and presentation ability.
  • Ability to problem solve and make independent decisions.
  • Possess excellent media research skills, as well as prior experience with media buying and advertising/marketing planning tools.
  • Must be a skilled negotiator.
Of Special Note:
MarCom Group, Inc. is a small business and as such the Media Director will need to wear multiple hats. For instance, the successful candidate will need to have hands-on working experience in researching, finding, negotiating and buying advertisements for clients as well as experience of a higher level in planning and developing media strategy. Because of the nature of our business, the incumbent will at times need to perform work of both a media buyer and an advertising marketing planner/strategist for our various clients.
