GoWatchIt tells users where they can watch a given movie across all platforms whether in theaters, on DVD/Blu-ray, online or on demand. We support six modalities of our technology including a web app, iPhone app, widget, mobile website, bookmarklet, and API. We're looking for a Front-End Developer for a full-time or contract to full-time hire.

The ideal candidate enjoys the rewarding outcome of hard work. He or she has a balance of experience and ambition to learn what's required to get the job done. This position touches primarily the front-end web stack, delivering a responsive elegant front end for desktop web and mobile. For the well-rounded coder, there will be many opportunities to touch the back-end code. You should have an eye for detail, and take pride in making every pixel count.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll have the opportunity to participate in all phases of the product life cycle: from brainstorming on product features, all the way to the finest implementation detail. It goes without saying that you can effectively communicate in all modes (orally, in email, or in a Basecamp comment). We don't want our product to be great; we want it to be amazing! And, of course, a love of movies is a plus.

Technologies used are:

  • JavaScript: (Raw + jQuery)
  • Ember.js (or similar bound JS library).
  • HTML/CSS
  • Twitter Bootsrap
  • Ruby on Rails
  • rSpec (unit testing and full stack integration)
  • Selenium
  • Redis
  • We have some incredible proprietary technology which is too top secret to talk about here.

Philosophies used are:

  • Test driven development
  • Peer code reviews
  • Object oriented programming
  • MVC Architecture

You should be able to demonstrate previous ability to deliver quality work (as a coder, of course), and hit the ground running from day one. Whatever you don’t know already, if you can learn as you go, we’re more than happy to have you and teach you everything we know.

We're located in a stylish, laid back spot in TriBeCa. We have frequent team build events that involve delicious food and beverage. We work in the film industry and you'll have some incredible opportunity to be involved in both the Hollywood and Independent movie scenes.

This position is full time, onsite in TriBeCa, with opportunities for flextime. We offer a competitive salary with benefits.

Applicants are required to submit an articulate cover letter and resume. Please include both in the same document. All submissions are reviewed by humans who care.
