The/Studio (thestudio.com) is an American owned company that has been in business for 6 years and now has over 40 employees located in both Shenzhen, China and Manila, Philippines.
We are a small company with several million dollars in sales, but we have been pioneers in the custom products industry, by being really one of the first company’s to integrate web technologies with the production and ordering of custom products from the consumer side.
We currently have two in house programmers from India working on our IT system who are based in our Philippines office.
We have plans in 2013 to grow our current business, as well as to role out a new web platform that allows customers to use crowd sourcing to create fashion and custom products. Think Zazzle or Café Press, but with a more democratic approach, that allows everyone (not only designers) to participate in the design and production of fashion.
Our CEO Yusuf Uqdah came to China over 7 years ago, taught English for one year, started The/Studio and grew it into a multimillion dollar company with no funding. He has a proven track record as a CEO, and he has ambitious goals to exponentially grow the company in 2013 and beyond.
We are looking to add an American programmer to our team that has the ability to manage a small team of currently two programmers, and several outsourced resources.
We are looking for a web programmer that will either join us in our Philippines office, China office or who will work remotely from home in the United States. We can help you relocate. We prefer someone that is willing to relocate to Asia, but we are willing to be flexible for the right person.
We are looking for someone that has a strong background in programming, but also in managing teams of programmers. You would manage this team as well as grow the team to perhaps one or two more programmers in the short term, and more programmers in the long term. We are looking for the rare breed of programmer that is not only a proficient programmer, but also has good ideas on how to make the best, and most user friendly web applications. A programmer that not only understands programming but is also comfortable with discussing design and business development.
We want a perfectionist that truly cares about their code, and how their code will impact our entire business. The right candidate probably has at least 5 years experience working as a PHP programmer, but we would even consider someone just out of college that has a passion for PHP.
If you have a truly adventurous and entrepreneurial soul this is the right position for you. Not only would you have the opportunity to work in an Internet startup that is truly taking a unique approach to fashion, but you would also have the opportunity to live in Asia. We have had other Americans come to Asia to work with us in the past, and they have all thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience.
Please send your resume and a cover letter describing why you would be the right person for this position.
