Position Summary:
This position provides technical support for the Commercial Operations, Generation Control SCADA System. This person will be involved in a dynamic environment, working within the GCSS support team in the Commercial Operations SCADA Support group in AEP IT. This position also requires working with non-IT professionals and vendors. GCSS is considered one of the mission critical applications in Commercial Operations.

Required Skills

This job requires general to e

xpert knowledge in at least two of the following areas and general knowledge in the other areas:

Energy Management System or Generation Management System (Alstom, GE, OSI, ABB or other), and SCADA

·

Networking (

TCP

/IP,

LAN

/WAN, Routers, Switches)

·

Programming languages, e.g. C#, C++, Visual Basic, Fortran, etc.

·

System Support, e.g., Windows Operating Systems (Server 2008, Windows OS 7), Real-time database, Human machine Interface (HMI) management, etc.

·

Relational database (SQL or Oracle) or Real time database technology

Desired Skills

·

Good writing and documentation skills, good presentation skills

·

Experience with Alstom EMS/GMS system

o

E-terrahabitat (Database), e-terrabrowser (HMI), e-terrascada (SCADA), e-terramodler (Modeling), and e-terrageneration (RTGEN)

o

Knowledge of AGC (Automatic Generation Control) and ED (Economic Diapatch)

Knowledge of the NERC CIP 001 – 009 requirements

·

Knowledge of electric utility market systems (PJM, SPP, ERCOT, MISO)

The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills; quick, accurate decision making; be a self-starter, but knowing when to consult with management and others; ability to analyze and interpret situations to determine the proper course of action; ability to work as a member of the team; sharing responsibility and direction; and ability to work in a fast paced environment where priorities shift rapidly.

The candidate will ultimately be responsible for technical support of GCSS. The person will be responsible for problem resolution; requirements definitions; directing vendor upgrades and builds; database modeling and programming in modern client/server environment; and participation in the rotation providing 7x24 hour support (not shift work).
Required Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree in engineering or engineering technology. This position typically requires 1 years of SCADA experience.
