Position Summary:

Cannot be in a probationary/trial period 3. Should have Meets Expectations or above overall rating on last performance evaluation The UNM Valencia Branch Campus is seeking a Full-Time Sr. Tutor. This is a Grant Funded position with current funding available until 06/30/2013. The Valencia Campus Adult Education Center (an ABE program) serves approximately 1000 literacy, GED and ESL students per year and is seeking a full-time Senior Tutor to work in a computer lab environment to provide computer-based instruction to GED students using a variety of software applications including MHC GED products and Key Train. The Senior Tutor must also provide instruction in basic skills, student success skills and career skills. In addition, this individual will be responsible for orienting and instructing GED students in distance education. Experience with the software mentioned, technical support and communicating and supporting students at a distance is necessary. The Senior Tutor will be responsible for assessing student progress and making appropriate placements in other educational activities. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Training others in student success and career skills. Supporting students with multiple barriers to education. Effectively using educational software for adult basic education. Working effectively with other staff and faculty members to support student learning. Using multiple means to support and communicate with students.
