MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
This position performs crop insurance support and administrative duties, using knowledge of established practices, policies and procedures. Main duties include processing insurance applications, assisting with claims reporting, monitoring activity and information on insurance providers’ reports, maintaining an effective filing system, assisting with problem resolutions, and coordinating meetings/seminars. Receives and properly handles a large volume of telephone calls.
Independent judgment is required for processing matters not requiring the Crop Insurance Specialist’s immediate attention. This position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to prioritize workload. The incumbent will work closely with branch team members and Central Office staff to ensure the smooth operation of business activities and the flow of communication.
This position requires a high school diploma and three to five years of administrative office experience, or an equivalent combination. Crop insurance or ag related experience preferred. Must have or be willing to obtain a license to sell crop insurance. Excellent organizational, verbal/written communication, customer service, time management, and team skills are essential. Telephone etiquette required. The incumbent must demonstrate a high level of initiative, attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to use discretion and tact where confidentiality is required. In addition, the incumbent must be able to utilize computer technology and a variety of software applications. Some travel will be required.
