Provides technical and engineering support ensuring that basic x ray equipment within the department meets established safety and performance standards under general supervision. A.Education: Work requires a professional level of knowledge in engineering and preferably related to x-ray equipment in order that such equipment be maintained and operational in accordance with established safety and performance standards. Such a level of knowledge would normally be acquired through the minimum completion of a certificate or Associate’s in an engineering discipline including military advanced schools. Any clinical engineering or IT training will be considered. B.Knowledge: Basic understanding of ionizing radiation producing devices and principles imaging systems and IT systems; minimal understanding of related procedures, systems, and equipment used to calibrate and test radiology systems as normally acquired through internships or other hands on programs; willing to be trainable Additional IT or networking knowledge preferred C.Skills: A high level of analytical ability required to find solutions for technical problems and determine necessary services to accurately and effectively maintain radiology systems. Interpersonal skills required to interface with engineers, vendors and technologists, in the diagnosis, adjustment or repair of radiology systems. D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: none E. Work Experience: Internships, hands on training, military, entry level, or clinical/biomedical background preferred. F. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Electronic testing instruments that are used in an ionizing radiation environment and hand tools
