The Technology Engineer is responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. The Technology Engineer designs, implements/installs, maintains and administers infrastructure systems including hardware, software and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
The open position within the In-Store Systems Level 3 team is to support the store based hardware and associated operating systems. This position provides the opportunity to interact with stores, divisions, application and business support groups, and third party partners.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensure adherence to architecture standards and roadmaps.
Implement overall infrastructure / middleware components per project with infrastructure teams, ensuring that overall solution is designed to meet SLA (performance and up-time), DR, and scalability needs required by the solution.
Follow operational procedures, processes, and scripts.
Follow appropriate change/release management practices.
Support and maintain infrastructure solutions utilizing required tools and technologies. Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Dispatch vendors or KMA contacts as required for on-site remediation.
Position requires rotation on 24x7 support team.
Ability to follow pre-determined work processes.
Experience building virtual environments with VMware ESX 3.5 or vSphere4 is a plus.
Certification in ESX 3.5 or vSphere4 is a plus
3 – 5 years LINUX Systems Administration is required.
BA/BS degree or related experience
Proven experience supporting LINUX in a distributed environment
2 – 3 years SUSE Enterprise Linux 9/10 admin experience
Familiarity with file systems management via LVM
Understanding of and experience in scheduling remote jobs via cron/crontabs
Experience administering system security and permission restrictions via sudo commands
Program development via Korn/bash shell scripting language(s)
Certification in Information Technology is a plus.
Strong PC knowledge working with Microsoft Office with a strong focus on Windows XP, Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheets

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an Information Systems position.
Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization.
Passing score on a selected entry test for new hires. (Test selected based on project requirements.)
