Department: MHA Mississippi Health Advocac
The Mississippi Health Advocacy Program seeks a community organizer to empower the community to fight for quality health care throughout Mississippi. Ability to communicate with different ages, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds is necessary. Applicant must be a self starter and motivated individual. The organizer will work on both local and statewide health issues. He/She will be a full time employee of Mississippi Health Advocacy Program reporting directly to the Program Director.
Education: High School/GED
Other: Must have reliable transportation and valid Mississippi Drivers License. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Strong meeting facilitation skills. Event planning experience. Solid understanding of community organizing and legislative advocacy goals and strategies. Understanding of leadership development goals and strategies. Experience providing training and skill-building to grassroots constituents. Demonstrated commitment to criminal justice reform, and racial and economic justice. Good strategic thinking skills. Experience working with grassroots organizations. Basic competency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong commitment to social justice. Must be willing to work various hours and some weekends.
