The Director of Accounting for Elster North America / SSC Sr. Finance Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring Group Accounting Policies and applicable accounting frameworks are correctly applied and overseeing the day to day activities for customer credit limits, customer invoicing, accounts receivable collections, cash applications and accounts payable. Position will perform detailed reviews of contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment and assist business units with forecasting. The Director of Accounting will review periodic financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
The Director of Accounting will implement and communicate new policies and processes and provide ad-hoc analysis for the North American entities. This role will also work closely with Group Accounting in conducting extensive research regarding the impact to financial statements of potential changes to accounting rules proposed by accounting standards setters, and advises senior management regarding same. The Finance SSC is responsible for providing up to date and relevant financial information of its customer's accounts and also provides on-time vendor payments to ensure no interruptions in our supply chain continuity.
This position must build relationships with key stakeholders in the Business Units, Headquarters and other Elster Shared Service organizations. This role provides an opportunity for the right candidate to continually improve the status recognition of a vital and highly visible Elster shared service organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters strongly preferred
Manager level at a Big 4 public accounting firm with at least 5 years of experience, 7+ years minimum total experience
Very good understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and SEC reporting
Experience with multiple element revenue recognition guidance is preferred
A customer service awareness and commercial mentality.
Ability to recognize trends and results that should be escalated to Senior/BU Management
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
SAP experience is preferred
Must have a positive "can do" attitude
Ability to handle pressure effectively and work within a fast paced dynamic environment.
