Alstom Power Inc., a global leader and provider of power generation engineering products and services, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer at its new nacelle assembly plant in Amarillo, Texas scheduled to be operational in 2011.

Duties and responsibilities: Ability to work with product design engineering, and production teams to formulate a manufacturing process for an existing product with safety as the top priority. Be willing and prepared to be an EHS leadership role model. Able to document existing, or proposed process in a clear and logical manner. Work closely and effectively with equipment designers, equipment suppliers, and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective, efficient production process of the new/existing product, or transfer such process from an existing manufacturing facility. Knowledge and ability to utilize Lean, Kaizen, DMAIC, or other quality improvement systems to continuously improve the present manufacturing processes to boost safety, productivity, quality, and profitability. Able to set/implement/follow detailed specifications and support the implementation of production plans. Able to read, understand, harvest information from technical specifications, drawings, peer publications, or Internet sources. Project management skills to oversee, and implement process design projects, to insure that the projects are completed on time and within budget. Skilled in researching, validating, and purchasing new manufacturing technology, working in collaboration with the engineering department to improve production equipment functionality. Lead the transition of imported technology to make sure production continues successfully without major problems, or loss time accidents. Skills and Qualifications B.S. degree required in Mechanical or Electrical engineering. 2-5 years experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Project management skills. PM software skills/exposure are desirable. MS Suite skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar. Must have good analytical skills and be detail-oriented. Able to work in a team environment with a diverse multicultural international group. Must have good leadership and communication skills. Technically competent in the manufacturing process. Low volume/High value machinery manufacturing experience preferred. CAD skill is desirable. Safety first attitude required, EHS exposure/training is desirable Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, training or exposure to any of these quality initiatives is required. Certification in any of the previous is desirable. Spanish language skills are desirable (speak/read).
