Summary / Purpose
Responsible for the management, facilitation, coordination, and execution of the site’s Environmental Management, Health & Safety systems. Performs all duties as the site Environmental Management Representative (EMR) and Health & Safety Representative (HSR). Reports on the performance of the Environmental Management System to top management. Assists in maintaining and managing site quality systems. Interacts with Process Quality Engineers to maintain and improve quality and environmental procedures. Ensures full compliance to quality, environmental, health and safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors hazardous waste process, including tracking shipments; approves or re-approves waste streams; addresses any issues with transport vendor or waste site. Tracks air emissions limited by air permit; calculates emissions to ensure compliance with permit; monitors air emissions not currently under permit control; evaluates need to amend permits. Tests de-ionized water annually; prepares hazardous material Permits for Auburn Hills Emergency Response; audits hazardous waste storage area; determines appropriate disposal for new materials; identifies waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities. Prepares and submits required reporting in all assigned areas.
Maintains Environmental Policy; ensures continuing suitability; recommends changes to management team. Develops, tests, and improves emergency response process. Maintains environmental documentation; approves all documents that impact EMS. Audits environmental legal compliance.
Maintains list of aspects; reviews floor changes, new materials, and equipment purchases for changes to aspect list. Evaluates aspects to recommend list of significant aspects to management team. Establishes, monitors, and reports on environmental targets and objectives.
Evaluates all injuries; identifies and implements corrective actions; addresses employee health and safety concerns; manages hazardous communications; audits health and safety legal compliance. Works with Manufacturing in conducting root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective action identification and implementation.
Manages forklift and radiation programs; manages lead awareness program; manages respirator program; and manages lock-out program. Evaluates safe handling and usage of new materials and equipment. Reviews and maintains MSDS sheets.
Associate’s degree in relevant field (Pre-Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Systems, Health and Safety or Environmental)
AND 2 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant Jabil position OR equivalent external training and work experience, including experience in quality systems and procedures or equivalent education.
Advanced reading, writing and math skills required.
Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages and latest technologies required.
Must be able to gather data, prepare reports, and perform initial data analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem resolution skills required.
Ability to work under tight deadlines with frequent interruptions, and frequently changing priorities required.
Demonstrated knowledge of automotive, telecom, medical or other industry QMS/EMS standards is preferred.
Basic knowledge of surface mount technology assembly processes, methods, and equipment is preferred, including understanding of programming and AOI software applications.
Demonstrated understanding of Bills-of-Material (BOMs) is preferred.
