A Territory Manager is responsible for increasing sales, providing service to our member-owners and acquiring new business within the Northern California territory. Territory Managers are energetic advisors who work closely with member-owners of a full-line hardware, lumber and industrial/ commercial cooperative to improve profitability through programs, services, product training, retail education and overall total analysis of their individually unique business. The Territory Manager will work with support staff, member-owners and prospective members to ensure we are “Best At” Team by being active listeners, reactive problem-solvers and proactive consultants.

Your Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive annual business plan for the assigned territory

Assist in helping our members grow through; store design, business expansion, event planning, competitive pricing, advertising, demographic studies, financial planning, merchandise consulting, product assortment reviews, employee training and use of Do it Best Corp. programs and systems.

Assist our members with succession planning, sale of business, stock re-purchase, change of ownership.

Assist members in evaluating their trade market area to help maximize their penetration in the marketplace.

Develop new potential store sites and present to applicable members to maximize our penetration in the market trade areas.

Develop and convert prospective member stores to membership in Do it Best Corp.

Actively promote Category Solutions, Channellock exclusively licensed merchandise, private label and national paint lines, and other product sales programs to maintain the latest product merchandising and help grow sales of Do it Best Corp.

Plan and manage member visits to the Do it Best Corp. markets, symposiums and other company events, maximizing their exposure to products, programs, services and staff.

Collaborate with other divisions of Do it Best Corp. as needed to accomplish the responsibilities noted above.

Create call planning agendas, provide call reports, submit expense reports, maintain data bases and provide all key communications between members and Do it Best Corp.

Maintain appropriate care of all company property including company vehicle.

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times while representing the company.

Participate in special projects as assigned by Do it Best Corp. management staff.

Attend company events, such as training meetings, markets, trade association meetings, executive symposiums.

Remain current on all of the industries that Do it Best Corp. represents.

Maintain a level of expertise and skills in all electronic media and computer technology as it relates to our members and Do it Best Corp.

Adhere to all Do it Best Corp. safety policies.

Effectively communicate with members, prospective members, other staff members, management and other leaders in our industry.

Satisfy all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as determined by Do it Best Corp. management team.

All other duties as assigned by Do it Best Corp. management team.

Required Skills

Preferred Education & Experience

Business or retail experience preferably in the hardware-home improvement industry.

Working knowledge of Microsoft software programs.

Field travel experience.

Proven record of consultative sales.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Understanding member-owned business model.
