The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for providing support to end user by identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems and issues. The primary responsibilities of this position are internal/external RedHat server support and configuration, scripting and automation of processes. Other responsibilities are Windows/VMWare Server setup/support for our customer base as well as our internal Development Staff. Additional responsibilities involve long-term projects, new product R&D and networking/VPN support for external clients
Essential Job Functions
Respond for telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support. Identify, research, document, track, monitor, and resolve client’s technical problems and issues. Assist in the resolution of routine hardware issues / problems.
Implement and manage PC backup / recovery systems, anti-virus software / hardware solutions / monitoring / updates, directory network security, and resource monitoring on customer systems.
Automate and maintain server administrative utilities, perform user and group account set-ups, permission assignments, and resource mapping.
Coordinate the installation of hardware, ongoing support of systems, security, distributing applications, operating system upgrades, and file system configuration.
Review the current status and performance of operational servers and assist with the development of solutions for a more reliable and efficient network.
Ensure policies and procedures for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the servers are complete, accurate, and up-to-date. Document all processes and scripts used to perform job functions.
Document and create systems trainings. Application development as it relates to this position.
Serve as a second level support for defined customer base.
Record work performed and track time in TigerPaw CRM software for customer accounts.
Perform pilot testing and monitors new systems and application through post implementation.
Participation is required in 24 X 7 on call production support.
Complete special projects when assigned.
Convert physical systems to virtual systems in corporate VMware environment.
Scripting/Programming process automation and administration.

Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of TCP/IP concepts and infrastructure hardware and technology; familiarity with Windows and Linux, networking, operating systems, and servers; great oral and written communication skills; the ability to effectively communicate with customers and other departments; an acute attention to detail; strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; work well under pressure; and is a highly motivated, team player with the ability to self-direct and prioritize.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred. Relevant industry certifications, such as A+, NET+, MCSA, MCSE, VMware, RedHat RHCSA/RHCE, CCNA, and /or CSSA.. A minimum of one year hands on RedHat systems administration and experience with Intel / AMD based desktops, Windows desktop operating systems, personal computer workstations, and server hardware and software. Experience with, Sonic Wall, VPN, scripting/programming, SQL and HP Proliant Servers are a plus. A Pharmacy/Healthcare background a plus. Shell scripting a must. Perl, Python, GIT a plus.
