Job Title: Merchandise Stock Clerk
Department: Store Operations
Reports to: Store Manager
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

A Merchandise Stock Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of stocking/freight functions which include receiving and processing daily/weekly freight shipments of Anna's Linens merchandise. He/She is also responsible for maintaining organization and cleanliness in the stock room and on the sales floor.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Unloading freight trucks - lifting up to 50 lbs., opening boxes and unloading merchandise from the box, staging the merchandise in the proper area of the stockroom or store, unloading of boxes and placing merchandise on shelves and breaking down boxes and taking them to the trash area.

Building/constructing or rearranging display shelves and units in the stock area and in the store in order to properly display merchandise; hang signs and construct display units, using tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, nails, pins and box cutters.

Stocking shelves, counters, racks and tables with merchandise as directed by the Store Manager or manager on duty. This will require walking up and down a ladder, balancing and placing product above and below the normal reach area.

Organizing, rearranging and straightening merchandise as necessary in the stockroom and store. Return misplaced items to correct locations.

Cleaning, sweeping, and organizing of the stock room. Shelves should be neat and organized, labeled, and floors should be swept daily prior to the end of each shift.

Potentially working in other Anna's Linens' locations and the ability to drive a truck to transfer merchandise from one location to another.

Ensuring that merchandise is stored, handled, and displayed in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.

Computer, Scanner, Hammer, Screwdriver, Drill, Brackets, Box Opener, Shelving, Ladder, Hand truck & Phone.

Ability to read English and interpret common retail information provided on manifests, box labels, Company Employee Handbook, new hire paperwork, Intranet, Company sponsored computer programs, training materials, etc.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Must be able to pass a standard background check which includes, a state and county criminal check , social security and drivers license. Furthermore he/she must have a valid driver's license, proof of full coverage insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position is required to move freely throughout store on a continual basis throughout the workday, standing for long periods of time, walking and carrying merchandise around the stock room and store. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to handle and carry merchandise; reaching with hands and arms; lifting overhead, pushing, climbing up and down and balancing on a ladder; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee will be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Dust/lint from products in the store as well as the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
