Under the direction of the Director of Engineering the Assistant
Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining all equipment, systems
and building components, including, but not limited to, mechanical
and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks,
furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile and other equipment/work
normally maintained/performed by hotel Maintenance Engineers.
Additional duties include staff payroll processing, scheduling and
inventory control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist in managing the work of the
highly skilled engineering staff.
Organize engineering staff
to accomplish goals.
Oversee progress of projects, confers
with Director of Engineering.
Report to Director of
Engineering on a regular basis. Works closely with the Director of
Engineering to establish long-range operating goals and expansion.
Achieve optimal operating efficiency of building equipment.
Assist Director of Engineering in managing the budget,
capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy
conservation.
Responsible for maintaining regulatory
requirements. * Maintain a schedule of regular walk through
inspections of the facility and issue work as required.

Maintain inventory of materials in a secure and organized environment
Organize and facilitate all Training
Performs
necessary inspections and repairs (as required & designated) to
kitchen and restaurant equipment and furnishings.
Any other
related duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain staff daily
performance
Prepare scheduling
Maintain day to day
documentation.
Train (both technical and safety items). .
Problem solving solutions.
Maintain accurate logs of
equipment tests, (such as fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, fir
extinguishers, etc.) repair and preventative maintenance logs,
monthly reports, daily walk reports, meter readings, etc.

The Ideal Candidate for this Position
WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings and weekends days are a
must
EDUCATION: A high school diploma and one to two
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Two years hotel maintenance/engineering experience and/or
management experience. Must be certified in High-rise Fire Safety,
CFC and chemical testing. Must be proficient in electrical, HVAC,
plumbing, locksmith, refrigeration, welding, boiler maintenance,
chillers and carpentry. FDNY certificates of Sprinkler Systems,
Standpipe Systems, and Fire Safety Director.
The
ability to understand written and verbal instructions and to
communicate effectively. To maintain accurate readings and logs. To
have a solid electrical/mechanical aptitude. To be able to read
blueprints and define areas quickly. To have basic management
abilities and to make reasonable decisions.
