Select and plan class content, which may include stretching, improvisation, dance techniques, strength exercises or combinations
Design a curriculum under the guidance of the Art Director/Curriculum Coordinator that covers a range of styles, techniques and genres in both dance and drama (K-8).
Determine class skill levels and make class content adjustments as necessary
Design a recital program; choose theme, music, and choreograph all dance/drama pieces with the assistance of the other performing arts teachers.
Attend periodic staff meetings, professional development, and performances
Choreograph and teach planned routines to be performed at school events
Responsible for demonstrating and communicating a vision for the overall dance and drama program with the goal of making this program one of world class status
Responsible for designing the dance/drama program, building the curriculum and effective lesson plans
Responsible for successfully preparing students for post-secondary opportunities in the performing arts
Responsible for building partnerships to maximize student exposure to performance opportunities
Responsible for providing students with engaging, hands-on experiences as part of the performing arts program and philosophy
Responsible for incorporating project-based learning into the daily class routine
Experience in teaching dance and drama to K-8 students with finesse and confidence
Ability to utilize computerized grading/attendance software (Zangle)
Ability to multi-task
Involvement with after-school progams a must!
