- The position will provide design and implementation support for the Tufts Clinical Translational Science Institute biomedical informatics infrastructure. This will focus on extending the content and functionality of a clinical research data warehouse (i2b2) to include other clinical & research data sources such as extracting information from the clinical narrative using natural language processing techniques and deploying a federated clinical data search capability across a number of Tufts CTSI affiliated institutions.
The position will also support the needs of a vibrant clinical research education program, helping to develop and support video on demand and virtual classroom environments. Future development of smart phone applications is also under consideration.
Responsible for leading the design (both from a software and User Interface perspective) of new programs to be developed at Tufts CTSI.
Instrumental in establishing and maintaining the Tufts CTSI informatics infrastructure including documentation (both technical and instructional).
Identify and implement available computer tools to meet the growing needs of the Tufts CTSI community.
Gathers and analyses user requirements as needed
Designs test suites and conducts systematic tests of system components
Key person for various users at all levels to contact with questions regarding the systems operations and report generation.
Able work in a team environment both as a member and as a facilitator, have proven skills in project management, the ability to manage full scale implementations of projects and be willing to work independently.
Highly motivated and willing to learn and implement new leading edge technologies. Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical design skills, along with strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or related field.
A minimum of 5 years as an analyst programmer, ideally gained within a medical or pharmaceutical setting.
Experience in software development using and objected oriented language, database connectivity and (web based) user interface design, XML and XSLT and with commercial database management systems is required. Experience with developing and maintaining large scale ETL processes, ideally within a biomedical environment, strongly preferred.
