The Director will lead the functions of the Behavioral Health Service Line by aligning system goals with behavioral health support. This position will be accountable for development of policies and procedures; accountability for financial, programmatic and

quality performance and management; regulatory oversight, clinical management encompassing recruitment, education, evaluation and supervision of staff; standardization

and prioritization of operations while assuring continuous quality improvement and

outcome excellence.

The Director has Behavioral Health Therapists, Counselors, MHAs, Behavioral Health Liaisons, Admin staff; Psychiatric Nurse Specialist, RNs, and Managers reporting to this position. There are an approximate total of 60 FTE’s. The Behavioral Health Center is open 24/7. Inpatient Behavioral Health is currently licensed for 34 beds (semi-private and single rooms) which is inclusive of the overall 382 beds at WellStar Cobb Hospital.

The BH Center is located directly across from WellStar Cobb Hospital. The inpatient unit only resides at the Cobb Hospital. From fiscal year July, 2010 to June 2011, there were 1700 inpatient visits and 660 outpatient visits along with over 8,000 assessments per year across 4 ER’s.

The Behavioral Health Department consists of the following entities:

1 BH Inpatient

2 BH Resource Team

3 Outpatient Team

4 Areas of Responsibility include: Inpatient Behavioral Health, Resource Team, Outpatient Behavioral Health, and the New Vision Detox Program.

The incumbent will have a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, MBA, Healthcare Administration or related field.

The expectation for an incumbent Nurse is to be licensed in the immediate future by the Georgia Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. A similar expectation for an incumbent Psychiatrist and/or Social Worker to be Georgia licensed.

The successful candidate will have minimum 5 years experience in managing behavioral health services, both inpatient and outpatient. The ideal candidate has experience in product / service line development coupled with broad operational experience in a multi dimensional provider setting.

The successful candidate will have functioned as a lead executive in a successful Behavioral healthcare organization managing multiple functional responsibilities and have success improving operational efficiencies and working closely with physicians.
