Fred Meyer is now hiring for an Apparel Product Merchandiser at our Corporate Office in Portland, Oregon!Position Available Date: 03/02/12-03/09/12Location:Main Office (OR)Primary Purpose: Developing all aspects of corporate brand products, including, but not limited to fabric development garment specifications technical drawing writing construction processes analyzing lab dips print development packaging Acting as a liaison between overseas agents, manufacturers and the merchandisinggroup; Working with overseas agent and manufacturers to develop assortments that meet market demand, current trends and Fred Meyers quality standards and pricingneeds. Essential Functions: Acts as a liaison between overseas agents, manufacturers and the merchandising group Develops and maintains quality standards Prepares quote sheets Prepares timeline on corporate brands for merchandising groups Authorizes bank statements Assists in determining best form of shipping Reviews all duties with broker Reviews all corporate brands and imports and assesses the profitability on a yearly basis Approves laboratory dips, garment specifications, construction, materials and production samples Ensures that international trade laws and regulations are followed Coordinates trademark securities Develops and sources products Analyzes product for construction, fit, and quality; creates specifications Tracks product through development
Qualifications:BA/BS in International Business or related discipline, plus 2-4 years product development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Other Skills Required: Ability to understand customs and transportation of product on a global scale Ability to analyze lab test results and make decisions based on those results Committed to providing Customer service that makes both internal and external Customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated Ability to work weekends on an occasional basis Ability to travel to international trading companies and major domestic markets Accuracy and attention to detail Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects Familiarity with retail industry/technical terms and processes Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet and E-mai Ability and willingness to continue education, as necessary To apply for this position, please email a resume and letter of interest to Vicki Smith at,Vicki.smith@fredmeyer.com Fred Meyer is an Equal Opportunity Employer
