1. JOB PURPOSE
Serves as Director for IT Project Management Office (PMO) within CCIT Planning and Resource Management department (PRM). Responsible for the overall direction and operations of this office providing strategic and operational guidance to the organization regarding the portfolio of projects including coordination of critical resources, establishing priorities, providing support and internal consulting. Provides guidance and management of designated project managers to ensure consistency with strategy and standard process across projects, and customer satisfaction with the deliverables of the projects (products and services). Reports directly to Deputy CIO.
2. JOB FUNCTIONS
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Research, develop and promote standard project management methodologies based on best practices; ensure integration of these methodologies, techniques, and terminology across the organization. Establish guidelines for setting priorities of projects that are consistent with University business and IT strategies. E/20%
Directly manage large, complex projects including cross-organizational projects and programs utilizing project management processes while serving as a role model for other Project Managers. E/20%
Recruit and manage skilled project management staff; provide required support, training and mentoring to process/project owners and coordinators within PMO and throughout CCIT. E/20%
Conduct ongoing assessment of projects throughout the project lifecycle by maintaining productive working relationships with key stakeholders, identifying lessons learned, and driving continuous improvement in project management processes. Report assessment results to management as appropriate. E/20%
Develop and maintain CCIT project portfolio including processes and standards for onboarding projects as well as identification of tools for presentation of project portfolio information. E/20%
A bachelor's degree and experience managing large projects of significant complexity and risk.
PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Project Management or Project Management Professional (PMP) credential.
PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 09 ($ 68,350.00 - $ 126,458.00)
Experience managing large projects of significant complexity and risk.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge and application of PMBOK processes and guidelines. Ability to manage work and provide guidance to employees. Ability to assign appropriate priorities to work activities based on organizational goals and situational pressures. Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines. Ability to conceptualize needed change and to initiate appropriate activities to move from concepts to implementation. Ability to develop and manage project budget, materials, and equipment. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports.
