The GreatAmerica Credit Internship Program is a tool designed to recruit the best and brightest accounting/finance students from college campuses in order to build GreatAmerica bench strength in the Credit Function. The intern will facilitate credit approval for lease financing transactions within assigned authority and in compliance with the credit policy at GreatAmerica. Intern will also provide analysis of credit applications to determine appropriate level of detailed investigation, and review applications to determine applicants’ credit worthiness.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Perform direct and thorough investigation and obtain relevant credit information from banks, trade creditors, credit reporting agencies and other sources, and formulate preliminary credit decisions based on data-analysis collected
• Analyze references and all other pertinent data, including financial statements and/or tax returns, in order to make the best possible credit decisions
• Work to obtain a first credit line and if granted, manage that line ($5k- $49k) in accordance with assigned limits and co-authority
• Participate in internal and external training classes as required to advance authorities
• Review, approve, or recommend credit of new applicants and make sound credit decisions within prescribed time frames
• Follow and perform within established policies
• Interface with sales, lessees, and dealers on appeal process and lease processing when a request is outside of standard guidelines
• Assist sales by building and maintaining relationships with dealers
• Communicate decisions or requests for additional information directly to dealers/lessees
• Live the GreatAmerica principles; get involved in cross functional team efforts as assigned and required
• Perform other duties as required

Education: Candidate must be pursuing a bachelors degree in accounting/finance or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.25 overall

Experience: No previous work experience required, but prior internships or work in finance/accounting is considered a plus

Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint

Other Requirements: Must possess excellent analytical ability, capability to process information quickly to reach appropriate decisions, desire to learn, and good interpersonal skills to work with internal and external customers at all levels.
