The Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminal justice invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in our criminal justice concentration to begin August 2011. We are interested in criminologists with a broad range of teaching experience to help launch Towson University’s new campus in Harford County, Maryland. Research specialties are open, but candidates should be ready to teach varied courses in criminology. Additional consideration for candidates with teaching experience in other areas of criminal justice. We also seek applicants with civic engagement experience or interest who can link our students to the local or global community through instructional or research activities. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and advising along with the clear potential for scholarly research. The PhD degree in sociology, criminal justice, anthropology or a closely related field is expected by the starting date of employment, but advanced ABD candidates will also be considered and hired at the rank of instructor with a required completion date of February 1, 2012.
