Ability to read and interpret advanced technical publications for application to process development and continuous improvement activity
Knowledge and experience with 5S/Lean, six-sigma, zero defect, etc…
Skills necessary and/or history of writing technical papers for advanced technical journals such as IEEE, ECS, JAP and others
Overall knowledge of engineering to sustain, troubleshoot, modify, improve and develop integrated circuit manufacturing processes. This knowledge covers a variety of topics such as mathematics, chemistry, mechanics, materials, electrical, physics, probability and statistics, and design of experiments (DOE)
Knowledge and ability to use computer tools such as Comets, RS1, Excel, Word, Acme, Experimental Database, manufacturing equipment computerized systems, CAD & layout design software, and statistical analysis software
Responsibilities
Planning and execution of technical projects
Analyze, prepare and present equipment purchase recommendations
Design, coordinate, and perform experiments to develop new processes and improve manufacturing techniques
Lead team activities to solve process and device problems
Lead team activities to reduce variation in all critical processes,
Provide training and technical direction to support personnel
Analyze, summarize and integrate project results with other project members
Apply planning and problem solving tools such as PFMEA, fault tree analysis, and event tree analysis in team settings
Establish and document equipment and process operating specifications
Develop OCAPS for all processes
Provide disposition to affected processes, tools, and lots when necessary
Communicate regularly with management and other functional groups within engineering function.
Prepare and present reports to management
Interact with other technical groups throughout Atmel and elsewhere to exchange technical information and remain abreast of new developments in the field

Read, interpret, and analyze scientific and technical journals and technical procedures,
Respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business and technical community
