Position Summary


Provides quality pharmaceutical care. Prepares compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals in accordance with established hospital policy and procedures and State and Federal Laws, Rules and Regulations.

Oversees procedural tasks that are necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs. Works with other healthcare providers as an integral member of the patient care team to assure that medication usage meets standards of care. The specialized services demanded by Clinical Pharmacist job duties include advising physicians on the inherent dangers of drugs and their eventual side effects as well as aiding in the appropriateness of therapy (i.e. Parenteral nutrition, renal/kinetic dosing, C&S appropriateness, dosing, 6 Rights).

Clinical pharmacist job responsibilities include oversight of the pharmacy technician's duties as it relates to preparation, labeling and delivery of medications and making sure that all dispensed drugs are in accordance with local, state and federal laws or regulations.

Some of the Clinical Pharmacist functions are related to education, research and mentoring of pharmacy students where practical and theoretical knowledge is obtained. Rotational shift Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services in the Anticoagulation Clinic. The goals of the pharmacist managed anticoagulation services include treatment and prevention of thromboembolic disease and minimization of complications of antithrombotic therapy. In addition to direct patient care, the Clinical Pharmacist will provide staff, patient and family education and precept students in the Anticoagulation Clinic.



Position Education/Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent required. B.S. in pharmacy or PharmD. A Registered Pharmacist license from the State of Georgia as issued by the State Board of Pharmacy through the State Board of Examiners is required. Previous hospital experience preferred.
