Emergency Department Technician at Swedish/Edmonds in Edmonds, Washington.

The Emergency Department Technician is responsible for supporting nursing and physician staff by performing tasks that assist in the care and treatment of patients with illnesses and injuries.

In this position you will:
Serve as a liaison among members of the healthcare team, patients and families

Organize, replace and maintain inventory and supply levels in the department

Take vital signs and prepare equipment and supplies for procedures

Perform approved orthopedic procedures such as plaster splint applications and other orthopedic splints/ devices

Perform basic first aid measures as well as procedures such as basic wound care, irrigation, wound prep, and dressing applications

Perform clinical testing such as Hemacues, Istats, urine dips and pregnancy urine testing, use glucometer to check blood glucose levels and collect other specimens such as sputum and urine

Perform 12 lead ECG’s

Perform phlebotomy

Required

qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent

Washington State Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC)

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 30 days of hire

Emergency department or related medical experience providing direct patient care, preferably in a free-standing emergency department; EMT-B recent experience will be considered
