Supervises drilling operations in accordance with Company and Client policies and procedures. Manages Client relations, personnel and assets to maintain rig operations and avoid downtime. Ensures the drilling department adheres to the safety management system requirements at all times

Responsibilities

1. Oversee the maintenance, repair and installation of all drilling equipment including, lubrication, maintenance records and inventory levels

2. Manage equipment preparation for future drilling operations

3. Assist in maintaining sufficient stock of parts and materials for rig operations

4. Review purchase orders for necessary equipment and / or parts to maintain rig operations

5. Verify for compliance records of inspections and certification of drilling equipment, tools and tubulars

6. Participate in the daily operations meeting to plan and direct the job activities of the drilling department

7. Actively engage in, lead and facilitate weekly safety meetings

8. Responsible for ensuring that the drilling department are conversant with relevant rig specific procedures, that they are understood, utilized and updated accordingly

9. Analyze the daily drilling report for accuracy and approve accordingly

10. Report drilling progress and associated operations to the OIM as required

11. Ensure that well control requirements are in place and meet operational requirements. Supervise well kill operations in an emergency or well control situation.

12. Jointly review the results of regular pressure testing along with OIM and Subsea Supervisor to ensure the BOP is maintained and ready for use.

13. Perform well control calculations

14. Actively participate in safety, departmental, pre-tour, client meetings, etc.

15. Perform or lead incident investigation as required

16. Coordinate the activities of third party personnel responsible for various well programme aspects

17. Communicate with Client Representatives

18. Ensure housekeeping is maintained in assigned areas

19. Actively participate in the Safety Management Systems

20. Ensure that approved rig operating procedures are adhered to at all times. Report all unsafe activities, situations, and potential hazards to supervisor

21. Responsible for budgetary control of department

22. Complete training requirements in a timely manner as per Seadrill training matrix

23. Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work in their current job positions and where appropriate coached and prepared for the next position

24. Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates. Recommend promotion, development or disciplinary action

25. Perform all emergency duties as per designation on the station bill

26. Effectively use all safety and environmental tools employed by Seadrill (4-point check, OBS cards, PTW etc.)

Qualifications
  • US Citizen or have legal right to work in the US
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years as a Toolpusher on a Deepwater drilling rig
  • Valid Supervisors Well Control Certification
  • Knowledge of standards, regulations and requirement within the industry
  • Good language skills, both oral and written
