Lafayette College is seeking applicants for an Academic Advisor/Counselor in the Dean of the College Office. The Office of the Dean of the College (DOC) provides comprehensive academic counseling and support services for Lafayette students.
The Academic Counselor will be involved with all aspects of academic counseling including the development, coordination and implementation of educational counseling services geared to achieving, maintaining and improving student success and retention. Specific duties include:
Requirements for the position include: a bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, education, special education, counseling or other academic counseling related field. Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (2008). Experience working in higher education, and knowledge of learning strategies and student-centered learning is desired.
- Managing a caseload of students;
- Monitoring academic progress;
- Providing assistance with learning strategies, organization skills, time management, etc., for all students in the caseload, including students with disabilities; and
- Assisting with DOC projects as needed.
