Senior Research Engineer

Architecture Evaluation Process, Tools & Methods

Job Location: Silicon Valley Office, Palo Alto, CA

Key Job Elements / Description:
Define, develop, and evaluate methods and tools for quantitative evaluation of future generation in-vehicle electrical architectures addressing requirements of future functionality, performance, fault tolerance, and engineering reuse (scalability, extensibility).

Maintain in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art automotive electrical architectures, serial

communication protocols, wireless protocols, network architectures, software architectures, and fault tolerant architectures.

Assist in developing vision, strategy and roadmap for future generation tool environments.

Generate and lead teams for the generation of innovative ideas and plans in methods and tools, collaborating with leading universities and commercial tool vendors as appropriate.

Lead and/or collaborate with relevant R&D subsidiaries abroad.

Establish and maintain corporate linkages related internal engineering customers and professional contact. Communicate results and progress in oral and written form.

Document results of individual and team efforts for internal and external publication.

Procures experimental tools and processes for their evaluation.

Gives technical direction to assigned personnel involved in scientific or engineering

research programs.

Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Basic Required:
PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Three years of relevant industrial experience in definition and development of automotive

physical electrical architectures.

Written two or more internal technical reports or external technical papers.

Experience in developing methods and tools for architectural design and analysis.

Experience in soliciting requirements for automotive electrical architectures methods and tools based on marketing, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, service, and technical metrics.

Advanced knowledge of engineering and computer science principles, or related sciences.

Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely

Difficult, including ability for "out of the box" thinking.

Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

Ability to initiate research activities, and work in a self-motivating manner.

Basic Preferred:
Five years of relevant industrial experience in definition and development of automotive

physical electrical architectures.
