AWS Database Services is currently looking for a talented Oracle Database Administrator for its Seattle and Herndon offices. The DBA will perform administration and engineering for multiple production databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fast-paced complex distributed database environments supporting primarily OLTP on a UNIX/Linux platform. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure.

Database Operations:
Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with AWS development Teams
Maintain development and production environments. Monitor and maintain database security and database software
Database & Application( SQL & PL/SQL ) performance tuning
Backup and recovery (RMAN and traditional)
Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support
Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
Deep knowledge of Oracle internals.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years of progressive Data Administration experience with supporting multiple Oracle databases for performance critical, highly available systems on UNIX/Linux platform
- Minimum of seven yeas data modeling experience, conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning, in addition to SQL, PL/SQL, and UNIX shell scripting
- Willingness to provide 24/7 operational support

Preferred Qualifications

- 5 or more years of industry experience as an Oracle DBA
- 5 or more years level knowledge and experience with Linux environments
- 5 or more years level knowledge of SQL and performance tuning
- Hands on experience implementing and supporting Oracle FSFO
- Track record of engineering performance and availability solutions
- Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
- PL/SQL experience good to have
- Perl/CGI skills nice to have
