Job Summary

About this Position: Credit Acceptance is hiring a Compensation & Benefits Specialist who will be responsible for providing support in the administration, design, implementation, analysis, and maintenance of the corporate benefit and compensation programs, while ensuring external market competitiveness, cost effectiveness, and government compliance, to assist in the attraction and retention of employees and to assist Credit Acceptance in meeting its overall objectives.

Position Outcomes & Activities:

Benefits §

Provides quality customer service to employees by responding to and resolving all benefits related inquiries in a timely manner, providing follow-up communication, and escalating issues to management when necessary. §

Administers all benefit plans, including health, life insurance, disability, and 401(k) plans including processing enrollments and paying/tracking expenses. §

Responsible for processing the employee enrollments. Troubleshoots issues and resolves problems when necessary. §

Ensures all plan documents and summary plan descriptions are compliant. Stay informed of benefit-related legislation, including The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. §

Develops and manages a benefits communication and education strategy for employees to enhance overall awareness and understanding of the company’s benefit programs including new employee orientation. §

Coordinates the annual open enrollment process for active and COBRA participants by establishing a timeline, ensuring system integrity, developing the communications, and working with vendors. §

Manages vendor relationships and is involved in vendor negotiations, including contract review; analyzes and evaluates services, coverage, and options available through various benefit vendors. §

Reviews benefit costs in order to determine validity of illustrative rates to identify forecast trends, etc. §

Assists with annual 5500 filing preparations, Summary Annual Reports and non-discrimination testing. §

Ensures government compliance relating to ERISA, EGTRRA, COBRA, and HIPAA. §

Provides input and guidance regarding process improvements. §

Develops and analyzes reports as needed.

Compensation §

Responsible for performing administration and analysis related to compensation programs. §

Participates in market related surveys, interprets salary data, and prepares analyses in support of recommendations related to pay practices. §

Communicates policies related to compensation and ensures that federal/state compliance is maintained. §

Coordinates the annual merit process and variable compensation programs, including recommending changes for continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

Basic Position Requirements: §

Must be able to ask appropriate questions that uncover underlying issues. §

Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred. §

Strong knowledge of HRMS software packages, as well as experience creating complex queries and reports, preferred.

Additional Position Requirements: Experience and Education requirements. §

Bachelor’s degree (human resources or related field) with at least three to five years related job experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. §

Understanding and application of U.S. laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, FLSA, and Wage and Hour Law. §

Ability to demonstrate objectivity in decision-making and the ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee data and matters. §

Basic statistical and mathematical knowledge. §

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
