The North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute is working hard to reduce the time it takes for laboratory discoveries to become treatments and to engage communities in all aspects of clinical research. The Institute also fulfills the critical need to train new generations of clinical and translational investigators. To support these activities, NC TraCS offers research communities access to a number of programs and services that will support all phases of research.
The Nursing Assistant duties may include but are not limited to providing basic care to healthy and non-healthy participants involved in research protocols conducted by Principal Investigators. These duties may include collecting specimens, phlebotomy, measuring and recording vital signs, height/weight, recording intake and output, communicating with the participant’s family and the study team, reporting any changes in the participant’s condition or behaviors in relation to the study activities and gathering other protocol relevant data. The Nursing Assistant will act as a vital team member and will conduct themselves in accordance with the Board of Nursing expectations and work within their scope of practice. They will communicate directly with the research team and comply with regulations governing care of human subjects.
If selected, candidates will be added to a pool of (Nursing Assistants) and will be contacted depending upon the projects and needs of the investigators at UNC .
Education and Experience
The individual assuming this position must possess current nursing assistant certification through the NC Department of Health & Human Services Nurse’s Aide Registry as well as phlebotomy certification and completion of training in peripheral Intravenous insertion.
Special Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to move 50lbs. CPR certified or willingness and capability to obtain BLS certifications.
