Opportunity Overview:
Process Engineers, known as System Engineers (SE’s) at General Mills, provide technical leadership on a core food processing system. The successful candidate will be accountable for driving improved performance through a great relationship with the manufacturing technicians, a deep understanding of the equipment, and a clear understanding of the ingredient interaction in the system. This person will be working closely with other processing system engineers to establish processes that further support our operation in pursuit of our improved performance.
Position Accountabilities:
Provide Technical Leadership in a High Performing and Collaborative Environment
Perform as a technical leader in a complex food manufacturing facility, providing technical expertise and deep product knowledge.
Demonstrate technical and business expertise on systems, products, and technologies related to food process systems.
Work closely with operations and reliability functions to ensure production goals are met.
Provide strong troubleshooting skills along with the ability to coach others in the same.
Ensure finished products meet the company and government standards of quality, sanitation, safety etc.
Promote positive employee relations through effective conflict management and issue resolution.
Maintain critical formula information and process parameters.
Serve as technical laison on your system from the plant to all levels of the organization.
Understand capacity constraints and be able to drive solutions to increase throughputs.
Additional duties as assigned.
Demonstrate Technical Mastery of Self and Organization
Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and product requirements.
Obtain in-depth understanding of technical manufacturing processes and ensure that team is progressively developing technical expertise and interpersonal skills to deliver sustainable results.
Drive Continuous Improvement and total employee involvement in critical success areas by empowering employees.
Understand core mechanical technologies, including pumps, drives, transmission systems, motion systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical/controls.
Be a role model to all employees. Qualification Required Education/Skills/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Engineering – Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical
Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or other applicable experience (2-3 years preferred)
Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
