This job is perfect for any individual that loves rafting, the great outdoors, and having fun!
Raft Captains are responsible for the safety of passengers, interpretive narration, and correct navigation of raft trips on the Snake River including i nspecting small boat trailers and lights, assist in training rear boatmen in raft captain responsibilities, maintaining and cleaning of all boats, and assisting the River Boss in opening and closing procedures such as patching and maintaining boats. On meal raft trips, guides help cooks serve food, check cleanliness of the outhouses, and assist the cooks in whatever needs to be done. This position typically works 40-48 hours per week, May through September or October.
Must have worked at Grand Teton Lodge Company as a Raft Trainee and been promoted to Raft Captain
Valid US Driver’s License
Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification by first day of employment
Strong Verbal English Skills
Must be able to lift at least 100 lbs
Physically able perform strenuous activity for an extended period of time
Must have knowledge of the general area and ability to communicate effectively.
Must be able to accept responsibility and be able to make good "snap" decisions in an emergency
