TITLE:
Director of Engineering

SALARY: $110,000 - $121,560

The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is an agency of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). Its mission is to stimulate the flow of waterborne commerce through the State of Maryland in a manner that provides economic benefit and homeland security to the citizens of the State of Maryland. As the public port authority in Baltimore, the MPA not only owns and operates marine terminals, but also interfaces with stakeholders across the entire public and private spectrum, including but not limited to: shipping lines, cargo interests, agents and forwarders, stevedores and terminal operating companies, the International Longshoreman Association, private terminals, federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and city, county and state governments. POSITION DUTIES: The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is recruiting for the position of Director of Engineering. This is an executive service position serving at the pleasure of the appointing authority. The Director of Engineering provides leadership, direction and management over the MPA's Engineering Division. This position provides oversight of transportation engineering work which must apply engineering theories, principles and standards to a variety of complex engineering projects and processes in the port/maritime environment. The Engineering Division is responsible for managing and performing the inspection, design, contracting, construction and/or rehabilitation of all structures, facilities and operating equipment within the Port of Baltimore; dredging of wharfside and approach channels; and the issuance and enforcement of harbor construction permits to private port operators and local government agencies. Some travel may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Engineering, of which four (4) years must have been in a managerial capacity. Port or maritime experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
