The purpose of the position is to manage the Flow Cytometry and cell sorting facility and provide high level technical expertise and support to researchers and other end-users, both internal and external to Brown. This includes managing, operating, maintaining, and supervising the flow cytometry and cell sorting facility housed on the 6th floor, BioMed Center.
Special Physical Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in immunology, biology or related field, Master's or PhD in immunology preferred -Minimum of 5 years relevant flow cytometry and cell sorting experience required or the equivalent combination of education and experience -Hands-on experience in analyzing complex cell systems using flow cytometry including strong experience developing and troubleshooting flow cytometry assays -Ability to interpret results and solve problems; able to present results in small groups; provide clear and concise result summaries to users -Must show initiative within own area of expertise and propose new approaches and innovative technical solutions -Proficient in wide range of standard immunological techniques -Thorough understanding of flow cytometry and other in vitro and in vivo assays relevant to immunology -Capable of teaching relevant techniques to other research associates -Strong knowledge of Diva and Flowjo software -Innovative thinking approach,, excellent verbal and communication skills, ability to interact with a broad range of individuals, computer proficiency in MAC and PC. -Ability to work independently as well as attention to detail a must. -Flexibility required to accommodate users' schedule.
