Admissions (collecting payment for admission tickets and passes from Zoo guests and providing them with information); service gate attendant; main office receptionist; and Puffer Train relief, Carousel operator, or other rides operated by the Zoo; as assigned by performing the following duties. Please note that a GSR may be assigned to one or more of the following areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides general information to Zoo guests.
Sells memberships and explains the benefits of the membership.
Collects cash or credit card payments for admission to Zoo and for ride tickets.
Explains coupon benefits to guests.
Scans tickets, reroutes guests who need to purchase tickets.
Screens for guests with animals, skateboards, bikes, etc. and advises these are not allowed in Zoo.
Provides general information for guests, including answering questions.
Collects coupons and brings to Admissions for lump sum ticket.
Monitors vehicles entering Zoo through Service Gate and signs in all who do not display Zoo parking pass.
Directs guests to appropriate destination and redirects guests as appropriate.
Screens out vendors or sales people who do not have an appointment.
Operates telephone console and radio to receive and direct/send incoming messages.
Provides general maintenance of photocopier and mail machine.
Distributes mail and oversees courier services (pick-up and receipt).
Receives and routes facsimile transmissions.
Orders office supplies as requested.
Monitors guests boarding Puffer Train to ensure they are safely seated without being overcrowded.
May provide Puffer Train relief.
Tests equipment before opening Carousel to patrons.
Collects tickets and moves controls to start and stop Carousel.
Operates other rides that are operated by the Zoo.
Sells tickets at Ride locations.
Ensures cleanliness and serviceability of admissions, reception, Service Gate, and rides areas.
Reports all equipment, maintenance and supply needs to lead or supervisor.
Interacts with Zoo guests courteously and offers proper attention at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE: Minimum six months customer service and cash handling experience.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Strong customer service and membership sales experience highly desired.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Must be available for shift work, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age requirement 18 years.

SALARY: $11.46 - 16.14 per hour.
