Our Houston, TX, branch is seeking an entry-level Export Agent to handle air & ocean accounts. This role is for an organized individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. They will be responsible for providing great customer service, processing files and working with steamship lines to set up bookings and rates. This position pays $10/hr.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and understand the terminology and documents involved in international freight forwarding
Answer all calls to the department promptly and in a friendly manner. Assist customers and other third parties with questions, complaints, requests, tracking and tracing.
Handle and maintain export files. Obtain required information when necessary and review for accuracy.
Quote competitive rates and s olicit, arrange and coordinate bookings from customers
Create new profiles and maintain existing customer database including rates quoted and services sold, delivery information and any other requirements pertaining to the individual customer
Complete other tasks and projects as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
No freight forwarding experience needed; however, prior customer service and office work will be helpful
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume office environment
Excellent phone etiquette
Ability to multi-task
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Internet
Experience working with AS400 a plus
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS (Certifications, Licenses, etc.)
Highschool Diploma or GED required
