Under direct supervision and guidance, the Poison Information Provider (PIP) provides non-emergency information to the public including pill identification and poisoning management of the nontoxic or minimally toxic exposure per poison center guidelines. Enters information into the computerized online database system. Provides routine follow-up calls as appropriate. Assist with conducting customer satisfaction surveys and clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

We are looking for Poison Information Providers to join our team providing coverage from 5:00-9:00 p.m. seven days a week in a job share arrangement. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in chemistry or biology, with one year healthcare experience, in absence of a degree, graduate of a pharmacy technician program, EMT-Paramedic program or LPN LVN program with three years healthcare experience. Proficient math, communication, and interpersonal skills. Exemplary organizational and emergency management skills. Maturity, tactfulness, and sensitivity to confidential situations. Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, database management programs, and the Internet. Familiarity with normal office equipment. This position is located off-site at the Iowa Statewide Poison Center in Sioux City.
